Bridgestone has launched Weather Control A005 Evo, the second generation of the company’s all-season touring tyre, which has been reengineered to offer additional performance benefits.
The tyre is built using Bridgestone’s high-silica NanoPro-tech compound technology, using a new mixing technology that improves silica dispersion for enhanced fuel efficiency and grip on snow potential. The tyre also features an optimised carcass construction and contact pressure distribution, designed for safe handling across all four seasons while retaining wear performance: indeed Bridgestone claims the Weather Control A005 Evo offers the same wear life as its premium summer tyres.
A V-shaped layout, Z-shaped sipes and a new compound formula have been incorporated into the tyre design to deliver a snow traction force that is a claimed 3% improvement on its predecessor’s performance, a snow braking distance that is also 3% improved, and a slalom acceleration that is 4% improved, according to Bridgestone.
The tyre is certified by the 3 Peak Mountain Snow Flake (3PMSF) marking and has also achieved EU label A-grade in wet grip, the highest-ranking label, for its control in the wet. The tyre also comes with an EU label B/C-grade for rolling resistance.
The Weather Control A005 Evo will be available from July 2020 in 94 sizes, from 15-21in, including eight popular sizes offered with Bridgestone’s DriveGuard Run-Flat Technology (RFT). The line-up also includes 64 HRD sizes, which is 15 more than its predecessor.
