Wabco’s air suspension compressors continue to be deployed to high-end sedans and SUVs, with the latest application being the Kia K9. This executive-class vehicle features Wabco’s CAPO (cost and performance optimized), high-power compressor and air springs from partner, Vibracoustic.
Despite some limited interest in the idea from China, the trend for introducing air springs into midsize cars has been stalled by the recession, according to Wabco product manager, Andreas Janetzko, with the air suspension market in developed markets largely stable. Nevertheless, Wabco is pushing ahead with some new compressor innovations that are around two years from production, with the first samples currently being built.
