Soben brought a broad range of low-volume damper products to Vehicle Dynamics Expo. The French firm, which can handle anything from a one-off prototype to around 1,000 units, is looking to expand its business with German vehicle OEMs. Dampers featuring its patented hydraulic bump stop, and racing shocks adjustable up to five ways, were on the stand to highlight the company’s expertise.
Also on show was an interesting 1:5 scale suspension test bench aimed at the higher education market. The goal is for students to control various parameters of the quarter-car system to improve the comfort and handling of the vehicle. An electric linear motor moves the wheel in the vertical plane, while a collection of force, position and acceleration sensors generate data for analysis.
