In response to the Covid-19 health emergency, the R&D department at Automobili Lamborghini is co-engineering and producing breathing simulators, in support of Siare Engineering International Group, Italy’s top manufacturer of ventilators.
The breathing simulator enables an initial evaluation of the ventilator’s performance to be made before reaching the final checking stage, when the ventilator undergoes a comprehensive test using certified equipment.
In the space of just two weeks, Lamborghini has used its 3D printing laboratory to design, produce and validate the breathing simulator, with each component optimised. The process has enabled the production of 18 simulators per week, using an HP Jet Fusion 3D 4200 printer with MJF technology capable of printing at a 0.08mm precision level.
Automobili Lamborghini is also producing surgical masks and protective plexiglass shields.
