Easyrain, an Italy-based developer of technologies that aid vehicle safety on wet surfaces, has announce the successful completion of a new €2.5 million equity round aimed at driving further growth, advancing its technology roadmap, and launching its products on the market. This latest step follows the announcement in January 2024 that Easyrain has entered into a partnership with global automotive supplier, Marelli, to industrialise the designs.
Easyrain’s technologies include the Aquaplaning Intelligent Solution (AIS), a system for restoring vehicle traction on wet roads, including aquaplaning conditions; and Digital Aquaplaning Information (DAI), a platform of virtual sensors that detect road conditions and calibrate the ADAS accordingly.
In 2024 Easyrain also attained Tier 1 supplier status by signing a contract with an unnamed ‘leading car manufacturer’ to supply its DAI (Digital Advanced Information) virtual anti-aquaplaning sensor. The first vehicle equipped with this software system, capable of detecting both partial and complete aquaplaning, is due to be introduced to the market in 2025. Easyrain recently expanding the DAI virtual sensor platform with new software capable of detecting tyre pressure loss, tread wear, and suspension asymmetry.
The funding round was led by Indaco Venture Partners SGR, a leading independent venture capital firm in Italy, which has supported Easyrain since 2018. This funding marks the initial step of a larger capital increase that the company plans to finalise by the end of 2025.
Indaco Venture Partners SGR participated through its flagship fund, Indaco Ventures I, and the newly established Indaco Ventures I – Parallel Lombardia Fund. The latter, supported by Regione Lombardia’s Lombardia Venture initiative and financed with European PR Lombardia FESR 21-27 funds, is managed by Finlombarda and focuses on supporting high-potential innovative companies based in Lombardia. Private investors also joined the round.
In 2024 Easyrain also refined its AIS system to be lighter and more industrialisation-ready, and developed a technology to counter snow and ice-related grip loss and enhance the performance of ADAS and autonomous driving systems. Looking ahead, Easyrain plans to grow its team by 30% this year, focusing on key market-driven projects.
