Hiroshi Nakamura has been appointed as the new president of Horiba Europe GmbH. The 43-year-old took over the position from his predecessor Hiroshi Kawamura, who has become chairman of Horiba MIRA, president of Horiba UK, and president of Horiba European Holding.
Nakamura joined the R&D department of Horiba in 1998 with a degree in materials science and engineering. After earning a doctoral degree and holding several positions within the Horiba Group worldwide, he became global segment leader for automotive test systems in 2011, as well as well as chief manager of Horiba’s automotive segment strategy office in 2013.
During his career at Horiba, Nakamura has been involved in the development of two main products: the first generation of an on-board emission measurement system (the OBS-1000), and the MEXA-ONE exhaust gas analyzer. Nakamura has published more than 30 technical papers and holds patents for at least 15 applications.
“It is a great honor for me to be part of a European organization in an industry with a leading technical position worldwide, and I am looking forward to working with academia, researchers and industries located here,” said Nakamura. “With its recently announced new mid-/long-term management plan ‘MLMAP2020’, Horiba plans to expand its technology and create new business fields for further growth to achieve about Euro 2.02 billion in net sales. By utilizing this great situation and our close relations with the technical leaders in Europe, I would like to create innovation in conjunction with our valuable customers.”
Nakamura is based at the headquarters of Horiba Europe GmbH in Oberursel near Frankfurt and will report directly to Atsushi Horiba, chairman, CEO and president of Horiba.
