Tier one supplier, Bosch, has announced the announced an all-new ESP set-up for high-performance and premium vehicles.
The ESP 9 premium utilizes up to six pistons, offering increased pressure build up over conventional two pump devices. This build-up is assisted by two sensors mounted within the hydraulic modulator, overseeing a smooth operation of the pump. Which, in turn, reduces vibration carried through the cars bodywork, and brake pedal. Bosch states that this allows for the system to offer instant performance in critical scenarios, such as the requirement for heavy braking, whilst also offering increased performance in autonomous systems such as stop/ start and adaptive cruise control.
“The new ESP 9 premium is the ideal basis for high-performance assistance and safety systems,” said Gerhard Steiger, the president of the Bosch Chassis Systems Control division. “The core of this new version is an especially efficient return pump that can build up brake pressure very fast, and almost without any vibration.”
The ESP 9 premium also carries the advantage of reduced packaging size and weight over its predecessors. The unit is around 800g lighter than the outgoing model, which Bosch states will aid manufacturers concerned with reducing weight in new models.
