Dymag Technologies, a manufacturer of lightweight automotive wheels, has developed the HALO-X carbon hybrid performance wheel, designed for the Porsche (992/992.1) 911 GT3 RS. The wheel features a magnesium centrepiece and carbon fibre rim (both by Dymag), and has been designed as a track upgrade, whilst also being fully road legal for street use.
The HALO-X wheel is available in sizes of 20×11 or 21×13, with weight of 7.14kg – 9.42kg (estimated), and load of 390kg – 830kg. Available finishes for the wheel include forged weave, red, and blue tints.
“HALO-X represents the most advanced and exclusive production wheel in our history,” said Christopher Shelley, director of Dymag Technologies, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary year. “In developing this wheel as an upgrade for what is considered the ultimate road-legal track car, Dymag aims to demonstrate once more that our wheels set the standard for performance.”
According to Dymag, in addition to further reducing vehicle kerb weight of the lightweight GT3 RS, the HALO-X wheels “significantly enhance” handling dynamics by reducing unsprung weight and limiting the gyroscopic effect and inertia of rotational mass. “All this translates to even better braking, acceleration, and sharper directional changes,” said Shelley.
HALO-X is the first new wheel to be released by Dymag Technologies following its acquisition by Borbet GmbH, a major supplier of automotive wheels.
The HALO-X will be available through Wheels Boutique, Miami, USA priced at $36,500 MSRP per set (excluding sales tax). In Europe, MSRP will be €34,900 per set (excluding import taxes and VAT), with EU dealers to be announced soon.
