Giorgio Ascanelli has been selected as chief technical officer for Brembo Group. He will be heading up the company’s Advanced Research and Technical Development departments.
Giorgio Ascanelli began his career in motorsport in 1985, in the mechanical engineering team at Scuderia Ferrari. He has also worked for Abarth, Benetton F1 and McLaren F1, and became technical director at Maserati Corse in 2002. He was technical director at Scuderia Toro Rosso from 2007 to 2012.
Brembo hopes that the appointment of Ascanelli will give fresh impetus into the company and bring new skills to an area of activity that has always been its main engine, whilst also sending out a strong signal of continuity to the market. In the coming years, Brembo says that it will need to come up with radically innovative projects to ensure that its engineering side of the business evolves in line with the company’s best traditions, while also responding to the new demands of the automotive industry.
