OE braking products supplier, Ferodo, has developed automotive brake pads that is says can bridge the gap between braking performance and comfort. The pads, named Ferodo Fuse+ Technology, feature an advanced friction material that combines the high-performance braking power of low-steel formulations with the comfort characteristics of non-asbestos organic (NAO) materials.
The pads are the result of more than three years of research and development at the Ferodo Tech Centre in Chapel-en-le-Frith, UK. According to the company the pads feature a unique combination of more than 20 precisely engineered components that work in concert to deliver strong braking performance, helping to offset the drawbacks sometimes associated with conventional braking materials. The pads also include Ferodo’s exclusive copper-free Eco Friction Technology, which reduces dust during braking and cuts pad emissions by 60%.
“Fuse+ Technology marks the beginning of an entirely new era of braking innovation on behalf of the professionals, racing teams and consumers who rely on Ferodo brake pads,” said David Coimbra, braking aftermarket product manager at Tenneco DRiV EMEA Motorparts. “This exciting new technology eliminates the need to lose certain important braking characteristics to achieve others.”
Fuse+ Technology brake pads are manufactured to OE standards in Tenneco’s European production facilities and are available immediately for almost 100 premium-level vehicle models from premier European automakers, including Audi, BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Volkswagen.
