Siemens has acquired LMS International NV for approximately €680 million. LMS offers a complete software platform to model, simulate and test vehicles, aircraft, and other complex products optimizing their acoustics, vibrations, oscillations, fatigue strength, and dynamics.
Siegfried Russwurm, member of the Siemens AG managing board and CEO of the industry sector, said, “Mechatronic simulation will become more and more important for intelligent and competitive product development and production processes. With the acquisition of LMS, we are entering a leading position in this software segment as well and can significantly boost the pace and power of our clients’ innovation.”
The business activities of LMS are to be integrated into the product lifecycle management software portfolio within the Siemens Industry Automation Division. “With the acquisition of LMS, we are expanding our portfolio of industry software in an area that is critical for many customers,” explained Anton S. Huber, CEO of the Industry Automation Division.
Meanwhile LMS has also extended its Virtual.Lab Motion portfolio. LMS Virtual.Lab Rev11 incorporates the new driving dynamics GUI which, along with the composer, allows the creation of customized applications for template-driven simulation and efficient driving dynamics scenario evaluation. Within this environment, dedicated interfaces, such as the leaf spring modeling tool, facilitate the design of complex chassis systems. LMS Virtual.Lab Motion TWR enhances durability engineering by extending multibody simulation models to tests on a virtual durability test rig. Finally, the collaboration with the Fraunhofer ITWM research institute provides seamless integration of a new CDT30/HPS (high-performance solver) tire model in LMS Virtual.Lab Motion.
