JK Tyre & Industries, an India-based tyre manufacturer, has appointed Prof R. Krishna Kumar, Institute Professor at IIT Madras (Indian Institute of Technology), as its technology advisor. Kumar will advise the company’s chairman & managing director, Dr Raghupati Singhania, and its managing director, Anshuman Singhania.
Kumar is a world-renowned expert in the fields of vehicle dynamics and tyre technology, and is not entirely new to the JK Tyre family – indeed he was instrumental in setting up the ‘Raghupati Singhania Centre for Vehicle Dynamics and Tyre Mechanics’, an R&D collaboration between IIT Madras and JK Tyre, and has been involved in its running for the past 18 years and in developing future-ready technologies.
Indeed JK Tyre says that this ‘deep and expansive’ research association with IIT Madras is one of India’s longest academia-industry collaborations. JK Tyre has identified electric vehicles, safety and environmental concerns as key factors that will drive changes in vehicle dynamics and tyre technology. Ptrof Kumar will be challenged to devise and develop pre-emptive solutions.
