Dataspeed – German sales engineer

About the role
Dataspeed is looking for an energetic and well-connected German technical sales professional, reporting to the director of sales and marketing in the US, to lead the organization’s expansion into the European market. The ideal candidate will have a deep technical knowledge of engineering tools for the development of electronic systems for advanced automotive applications, primarily in the CAV (Connected and Autonomous Vehicle) autonomous vehicle industry. They will also have a network of contacts in the German automotive and autonomous vehicle industry.

Duties and responsibilities
• Lead operations for the European Dataspeed office
• Increase sales of the Dataspeed drive by-wire Kit in the CAV market
• Support account management and drive sales in the entire CAV ecosystem, including OEMs, Tier 1s, Tier 2s, start-ups, and universities
• Drive product introductions through customer presentations, demonstrations, sales calls, and promotional activities
• Willingness to travel up to 50% to potential and existing customer locations to complete sales
• Establish new accounts by identifying potential customers, planning, and organizing sales call schedule
• Develop and maintain a strong and positive customer/supplier relationship through timely and consistent communication with the customer
• Prepare and submit reports for US corporate management in a clearly-worded and timely manner
• Attend networking events including tradeshows, conferences, workshops, seminars. Conduct driving demonstrations to existing customers and prospects
• Maintain relationships with TUV certifying entities
• Maintain relationships with vehicle dealerships
• Compensation: commensurate with experience

Requirements
• University degree in electrical engineering, electronics, or related technical field
• 7+ years of experience in automotive engineering development tools in Germany
• Proven track record of meeting sales quota
• Strong sales and negotiation skills, as well as tactical thinking
• Customer-focused and responsible team player with the ability to foster relationships
• Fluent in English and German, both verbal and written
• Self-starter, with the ability to work independently
• Must be able to travel internationally
